Senior Olympics

Into Third Day

 

     During the third day of competition in the 2008 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics, Tues., Sept. 23,  James Westray, Arl.,  won a gold medal in menÕs eight ball pool and Elizabeth Roadcap, Vienna  won in the womenÕs division. The competition was held at Lincolnia Senior Center, Alexandria.

     Other events were held at Lee District Park, Franconia. Gold medals were awarded in  3x3 womenÕs basketball to the Super 60Õs Plus, Nancy Joyner, Annandale, Sue Flynn, Oakton, Carmela Miller, Arl., Patricia McWethy, Oakton and  Lily Chua, Potomac. Frisbee throw gold medalists were (men)50-59, Ken Freund, Alex.,  60-69, Kai-Peter Koenig, Montclair,  70-79, Renold Beck, Fairfax, 80-89, Ben Robinson, Alex. and 90-99, J. R. Cassidy, Manassas; (women) 60-69, Mary DÕAlessandris, Falls Church, and 80-89, Carla Convery, Alexandria.

     Gold medalists in bait casting were (men) 50-59, Steven Johnson, Springfield,  65-69, Richard Stohr, Springfield, 70-74 Charles Toftoy, Arl., 75-79,  Dante Simbulan, Burke,  and 85-89, J.R. Cassidy, Manassas.  Gold medals were awarded in yo-yo tricks to men (beginners) Won Yoon, Burke, (novice) Dante Simbulan, Burke and (advanced) 70-79,  Roger Webb, Alex; women (beginners) Carla Convery, Alexandria.
